eCHN

Background

As Canada’s first province wide integrated electronic health record, The Electronic Child Health Network (eCHN) revolutionizes the sharing of children’s health information among Ontario’s medical professionals. With awareness and accolades increasing, the organization had come to the conclusion that their website did not adequately communicate its value to key target audiences.

Strategy

A Role Based Navigation Structure

One of the primary issues with the previous site was that the information architecture was confusing and overly technical. The new site features role based navigation with distinct areas for each of our two main user groups: parents and physicians.

Clarifying and Communicating the Value Proposition

Effective web content should be simple, succinct and scanable. Headlines should be benefit driven and allow users who are scanning the site to get a clear idea of the value proposition and the content of each page.

Telling the Story With Video

Jar developed and designed the site in conjunction with Kandor productions, who had recently completed a long form video about the development of eCHN. These videos were edited down to short spots that discussed various aspects of the network. Jar built these videos into a multimedia page as well as making them a feature throughout the site.
